About AI in Europe

Europe's daily AI brief - covering the EU institutions, the UK, Switzerland, and the national stories from Lisbon to Helsinki. British English, primary sources, no hype.

Our mission

Europe is the world's most active AI regulator and one of its most consequential AI markets - yet most English-language coverage flattens the continent into a single Brussels dateline. The story of AI in Europe is the story of 27 EU member states, plus the UK and Switzerland, each with their own ministries, research traditions, industrial bases, and political tempers.

AI in Europe exists to give that detail back. We track the AI Act enforcement queue out of Brussels, the Square Mile's deals desk out of London, the Mittelstand shop floors out of Berlin, the Mistral and Aleph Alpha labs in Paris and Heidelberg, and the cap tables in Amsterdam and Stockholm - and we cite the original document, every time.

We do not write hype. No revolutions. No game-changers. No exclamations. Just careful coverage of what the European AI sector is actually doing, who is funding it, and what the regulators are doing about it.
